John Grant High School talent show ends the year on a high note

Montreal - Wednesday, June 19, 2019

On Wednesday, June 12, John Grant High School in Côte Saint-Luc held its annual spring concert. This year’s show “This is Us!” was a departure from the norm, incorporating a fashion show, entrepreneurial projects, and graduation into its set list. Under the creative direction of Steven Atme and Cari Friedman, the students displayed their varied talents proudly, from singing and dancing to musical performances (guitar, cello, violin, keyboard, and harmonica).

The excellence of the performances was even more notable when one considers the challenges and anxiety that these students live with on a daily basis. Master of Ceremonies, Jeremy Rubin (from le Rec Room) had the Wagar Auditorium audience participating as cheers and tears of joy filled the room on what proved to be a very emotional evening.

As the last notes of Minoo Gholami’s stellar keyboard piece faded, her classmate, Wilmark de Guzman, came forward to help her put on her cap and gown. The curtain then opened up to the other graduates standing in a line. Certificates were handed out, short speeches were made, and then Steven Atme sang “Time to Say Goodbye” as photos of the graduates’ time at John Grant flashed on the auditorium walls. It was a lovely farewell. The show was a real testament to the hard work of both the students and the staff. When people work together, there is no limit to what they can achieve. The concession stand and raffle were a great success and will help fund next year’s graduation. Thank you to all of our sponsors who donated prizes, food, and money to make this year’s show simply spectacular!
